Two folks had been killed and 14 had been injured in a capturing at a yard social gathering in Rochester, NY., within the early hours of Saturday, a police official stated, describing it as “a tragedy of epic proportions.”

Interim Police Chief Mark Simmons stated the capturing occurred on Pennsylvania Avenue, and that the 14 individuals who had been harm suffered non-life threatening accidents and had been being handled on the hospital.

“It’s a very large crime scene,” Mr. Simmons stated. “We have evidence scattered at multiple locations, victims arriving at different hospitals and just trying to identify and interview citizens.”

One man and one girl had been killed, each between the ages of 18 and 22, based on the police. Rochester, a metropolis of 200,000 in western New York, has confronted a spate of shootings in current months.

The town’s police division has come underneath heightened scrutiny after the suffocation of Daniel Prude, a Black man who died after he was handcuffed and had his head pushed on the pavement as officers pulled a mesh hood over him.

Seven officers had been suspended earlier this month in connection to Mr. Prude’s loss of life and on Monday, Rochester Mayor Pretty Warren fired the police chief, La’Ron Singletary.

Police stated they didn’t imagine the capturing was tied to the current demonstrations.

Mr. Simmons stated that about 100 folks had been on the home social gathering when photographs rang out and other people started working. No arrests have been made but.

“This is yet another tragedy where individuals are having these illegal, unsanctioned house parties taking place in these properties, which — number one — is not safe because of Covid, because of the conditions,” he stated. “And then you add in alcohol and violence and it just becomes a recipe for disaster.”
